Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is LISA Academy Online?
LISA Academy Online, established in 2021, serves K-12 students across Arkansas with a flexible and innovative education model. We combine virtual instruction with onsite opportunities for intervention and enrichment to provide a comprehensive learning experience tailored to meet the needs of every student.

2. How does the learning model work?
Students can fulfill attendance requirements entirely online, offering maximum flexibility for families. The school also provides optional onsite activities, including intervention/tutoring, enrichment, STEM, and clubs for students who choose to participate. Students experiencing academic challenges may be required to attend onsite for additional support.

3. What are the academic and attendance requirements for LISA Academy Online?

  • Upon enrollment, all students will initially be classified as LIVE Learners.
  • After successfully completing the initial district testing requirements, K-10th grade students who score at or above the 60th percentile and achieve a minimum grade of B in all core subjects (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies) following each interim and progress report card, will be eligible for the FLEX Learning option.
  • Students in grades 11th and 12th will be assigned based on their first interim grade reports and subsequent quarter grades. To be reassigned as a FLEX Learner, students must achieve a minimum grade of B in all core subject areas.
  • Student learning placements will be reviewed and may be reassigned based on subsequent standardized test scores. Parents wishing to appeal their child's Live or Flex Learner assignment can do so by submitting a request to the school administration.

4. What are the differences between Live Learners and Flex Learners?

  • Live Learners:

    • Required to attend all live online lessons as scheduled.
    • Marked absent if they fail to log in for these classes.
    • Must submit an exit ticket to their teacher by 11:59 PM on the day of absence to be counted present.
  • Flex Learners:

    • Not required to attend live lessons as scheduled but are encouraged to do so.
    • Attendance is based on weekly completion of coursework on our platforms.

5. What testing requirements should students be aware of?

  • All district and state-mandated tests will be administered online from the student’s home. However, certain high school tests, such as the ACT, PreACT, PSAT, and AP tests, require in-person attendance.
  • Onsite testing will also be available upon parent request for the online-administered tests mentioned above.
  • Attendance for all scheduled state and district testing is mandatory. Failure to attend state testing without prior administrative clearance will result in grade-level retention as per the school's attendance policy.

6. What support is available for students facing academic challenges?
Students facing academic challenges may require onsite support in intervention or tutoring to ensure their success. Our Campus Learning Centers in Northwest Arkansas and Little Rock, along with the Satellite Learning Center at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, serve as hubs for interaction with LISA Academy Online programs and activities. Additionally, there is online live support available to assist students in real time.
